JOBBIE Peanut Butter Dry Curry Chicken Katsu Strips (Japanese Fried Chicken)
by Wayne (@dough_and_stove IG)
Allergic to eggs? Big fan of Curry Chicken Katsu (chicken katsu is basically the Japanese version of fried chicken) but hate the wet & soggy texture after drenching in sauce? JOBBIE gets the job done right!🙌
Did you know that our Classic Chunky Peanut Butter can act as a binder replacing egg in this classic recipe? When mixed with curry seasonings, this results in a Dry Curry Chicken Katsu which stays crispy much longer!
On top of that, the peanut butter marinade doubles as a dipping sauce as well, can Katsu get any simpler than this?🤯
INGREDIENTS
Recipe makes ± 8 chicken katsu strips
- Chicken Strips, 200g/ 8 strips
- Breadcrumbs, 70g
For peanut butter batter

- Sprite, 75g*
- Salt, 2g
- Pepper, 1g
- Curry Powder, 5g
- Garam Masala, 5g
- Cayenne Pepper, <1g
*Sprite helps in diluting the marinade down to the right consistency, gives a hint of sweetness, and the air in the beverage contributes a little to the texture after frying too!
PREPARATION
- Mix all peanut butter batter ingredients well together in a bowl.
- Dip Chicken Strips into peanut butter batter.
- Then, coat batter dipped Chicken Strips in breadcrumbs. Set aside and repeat with remaining Chicken Strips.
- Fry coated Chicken Strips until golden and crispy.*
